Abstract:
One of the major challenges of constructing a phase envelope is to be able to locate certain key points. In the pursuit to get a better estimation of the equilibrium calculation it is therefore of paramount interest to be able to locate the critical points, the cricondertherm (corresponding value to the highest temperature) and the cricondenbar (corresponding values of the highest pressure). ANN is a tool which is widely used in the petroleum industry as of today and being able to train an expert system to understand the complexity of non linear relations between an input and output is creates a challenge. The importance of phase envelope to the petroleum industry cannot be over emphasize, therefore the accuracy of being able to predict the location of the critical temperature and pressure along with the cricondentherm’s temperature and pressure with cricondenbar’s temperature and pressure goes a long way in being able to get a better phase envelope and further more to enhance our understanding of the fluid/gas in the reservoir.
