Additionally, polymeric materials gained popularity in agriculture, food, and construction industry due to their easily tunable mechanical and degradation properties achieved by manipulating polymerization conditions, composites formulation, and processing techniques. As needs across the engineering field have evolved and require increasingly sophisticated solutions, citrate-based biomaterials provide unique physical, chemical, and biological properties that can be customized to meet the complicated and specific requirements of regenerative engineering and other biomedical applications.
We researched and investigated the citrate-based polymeric materials’ degradation behavior and mechanism, development of a new class of osteopromotive citrate-based materials with glycerophosphate salts for bone tissue engineering applications, and utilization of citrate-based resin in vegetable oil filtration. This scientific work aims to develop a variety of versatile citrate-based polymers and explore and demonstrate their applications in biomedical and vegetable oil purification fields.
