Hybrid Coupler stripline compact
Abstract:
A new compact design for a hybrid coupler using asymmetric stripline is introduced.
The design process for two different frequency ranges and simulation results for those
frequency ranges is presented. Following the design process and simulations, the coupler
was fabricated and tested. This required the development of a Thru-Reflect-Line (TRL)
calibration kit. The process for the design and verification of this kit is also presented.
Finally, the calibrated results for the coupler are given. Future work is discussed including
the design of a phase shifter using a similar design process to the coupler. It is then
shown how the coupler presented by this work and the hypothetical phase shifter might be
incorporated into a larger Butler matrix design.
